Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most popular safari destination and one of the most biodiverse protected areas in Africa. The park straddles the equator in western Uganda, covering over 1,978 square kilometres of savannah, wetlands, forests and crater lakes. It is home to over 95 mammal species including elephants, hippos, buffaloes and the famous Ishasha tree climbing lions, a rare phenomenon found in only two places on earth. The Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake George and Lake Edward, offers one of Africa’s finest boat safaris with dense concentrations of hippos, crocodiles and waterbirds along its banks. The Kyambura Gorge adds a dramatic chimp tracking experience to any visit. Queen Elizabeth is where Uganda’s safari experience truly comes together.
